Baja 1000 Race

We arrived in Bahia de los Angeles just in time to see the Baja 1000 racers come through town. This 1000 mile off road race from Ensenada to La Paz is the premier event of the season. Everyone comes out to see the racers roar through town to the pit stops for refueling, repairs and swapping drivers. They race through the scorching heat of the day and all through the pitch black desert at night. The winner completed it in 22 hours straight! Our girls posed for photos with one of the motorcycle racers and then cozied up to the telenovelas (Mexican soap operas) at the taco stand for an impromptu Spanish lesson!
