Silverwood Theme Park, ID

After a long drive through Idaho, we arrived at the campground adjacent to Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach Water Park. It was a glorified parking lot with some trees and grass next to the highway, but the location was ideal for a day at the theme park. The girls were grumpy after a day in the car and they were highly annoyed by the necessity of grocery shopping at Costco and Target that evening. Everyone collapsed into bed at 9:30pm.

Heidi woke us up bright and early the next morning at the crack of 6am to go to the theme park which opened at 11am. They were ecstatic to go on the rides and managed to try every thrill in the park. Since Heidi was now 48 inches tall, she could go on all the big roller coasters and stomach-swallowing rides. We spent the day spinning to the point of nausea, swooping down massive coasters, hanging upside down and plunging from three stories up. The girls loved every last minute of it while Mark and I felt our age as we added more than one grey hair to our heads.

The girls were less impressed with the water park due to the weather. It was a beautiful day, but as clouds rolled in by late afternoon they were shivering in the cold water. We toweled them off and went off on our last round of rides. There were no crowds and the park was basically deserted by 7pm when we headed home for food and some down time before bed.

After a day at the theme park, we were all ready for our next destination - Mount Rainier National Park.
