Kings Canyon National Park, CA

After staying in Three Rivers and visiting Sequoia National Park, we took a "shortcut" to Kings' Canyon National Park. We could not drive through the park with our trailer due to length restrictions, tight turns, and gruelling uphill climbs. Rather than backtrack to the main highway, we followed our faithful Garmin GPS which took us up a rural road which would deposit us close to the entrance gate to the park. Mark proved his mettle once again, steering our 50 ft rig through hairpin turns, steep grades, and impossible corners on this 1.5 lane road. There was nowhere to turn around and nowhere to go, but forward. The kids were carsick and Mark earned his professional trucker status after climbing 4000ft up! The GPS is genius for navigating urban areas, but a trusted roadmap is the way to go in the country. Lessons learned.....again.
