Soldotna, Alaska

The sun was shining down upon us as we arrived in Soldotna, Alaska. We spent the afternoon restocking supplies at the local Fred Meyer and then met up with Lee whom Mark knows from previous trips to Alaska. Lee is a fishing guide and family friend. He generously offered to let us park our rig at his beautiful home in the woods and then he took us out on his river boat that evening to catch some Sockeye salmon. Mark and Lee reeled in their limit of six fish and we headed back for a 10:30 pm dinner of fresh salmon.

While exploring the riverbank, Nicole gathered enough fishing line and a hook to rig up her own fishing pole. She was overjoyed when her homemade gear worked well enough to catch a little fish. Mark was a proud papa, "That's what this trip is all about!"
