One of our more memorable and less enjoyable trips was taking the ferry from La Paz to Mazatlan. We were supposed to board at 3pm and leave at 5pm, but the ferry didn't depart until 11pm! It was a long and rather dull journey, aside from the sea turtles we spied from the deck of the ship. Luckily, in all that time spent waiting, we met a family from Oregon who were biking from Ensenada to Chiapas with their three kids aged 9,7, and 3. They made great playmates for our girls and helped to pass the endless 18 hours aboard the boat. As we pulled into dock, Mark was intrigued by the tugboats which helped to navigate us safely to shore and he snapped some photos of these hardy vessels.
