Mermaids in the making! Nicole and Heidi joined their friend in the pool for a little swim with fins. They borrowed the lycra tails and mono fins from girls who were visiting. Since we are reading aloud a story about mermaids, Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep by Liz Kessler, this was a great opportunity to experience what it's like to swim with a fin. There will be mermaid dreams tonight for sure!

Organic Farm, Guadalajara, Mexico
We were able to visit Rancho La Luna one sunny afternoon to see their working farm. The organic farm is only six years old, but they have an incredible facility which the owner Alex is eager to share. He let the girls visit with the lambs, goat kids, chickens, pigs, and bunnies which are raised on the property. They have amazing organic produce and a restaurant that feeds groups from the gardens on site. The girls' favourite animals were the two week old bunnies and they were aghast when Lucie bought some organic rabbit meat. This was a great opportunity to explain that beef is the cute calf in the field, chicken is the hen pecking at your feet, and pork is that adorable piglet in the pen. I think Heidi is considering life as a vegetarian, but nobody loves bacon like our little girl!
Nicole's Birthday, Guadalajara, Mexico
The day began with singing at 7:30am and the birthday wishes didn't stop until she was tucked into bed for the night at 10pm. No one could have been more excited for Nicole than Heidi. We had a lovely day at Trompo Magico and a wonderful Italian dinner at Ma Come No. The girls played LEGO and finished the day with a delicious birthday cake of whip cream and strawberries. Heidi saw a Golden Retriever puppy at a pet store and wanted to get it as an early birthday present for herself, but she was out of luck. Nicole spent the next day playing tennis which she hopes to pursue back home.
