Guadalajara Mexico

After eight long years away, we returned to Mark's childhood home in Santa Anita. This quiet sanctuary in the midst of a city of 7 million was a wonderful place to call home during our visit to the bustling metropolis of Guadalajara. Mark's parents, Lucie and Rolf, moved to the golf club almost 35 years ago and they have seen many changes during that time. Luckily, they had the foresight to plant mandarin, avocado, lime and papaya trees. We were able to feast on the fruits from their yard and enjoy the abundant flowers which fill Tita's garden. We hiked up the mountainside which Mark explored as a young boy which is still home to many species including deer, coyote and puma. We lived like retirees and the girls went swimming at the club from 1-3pm and had the pool to themselves. We had breakfast dates and lunch dates with neighbourhood friends. It seemed that everyone remembered Mark, although many didn't recognize my bearded boy at first. Looking through photo albums and recalling stories of his past helped the girls to understand where Mark comes from and the places that have shaped him.
