We arrived at midnight to find sanctuary at Casa Buque in Sayulita for the long weekend at the end of January. We spent a lazy Saturday lounging by the pool and playing in the waves by our private beach. On Saturday night the rains began and drenched the place for the next two days straight. A deluge in February used to be unheard of, but the world’s climate is certainly changing.
Mark and I escaped in the warm rains on Sunday morning for a quick paddle in the kayaks. We abandoned plans to have a reunion at the beach and opted instead to get together for pizza and some indoor playtime at their local “Kids’ Club” in Nuevo Vallarta. The kids absolutely loved it and they burned off all of their energy with some serious bouncing and climbing. It was the perfect antidote to a day of non-stop rain!
