Malecon Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
After the hoards of folks on holiday had left town, we ventured into downtown Puerto Vallarta to check out the new and improved Malecon. The renovated beach-side pedestrian walkway was a marked improvement from the skinny sidewalks and noisy buses which used to rattle down the street spewing smoke. We thought we had picked a nice, cool, overcast day to tour the Malecon. It turned out to be a sweltering 33 degrees in the sunshine, but we survived the steamy temperatures with gelato! We saw sand sculptors at work, a man creating balancing rock sculptures and toured the local galleries to marvel at the intricate thread and bead work of the indigenous Huichol artists.
